The Sciotoville Church of the Nazarene is part of the international protestant denomination known as the Church of the Nazarene. We are called the Church of the Nazarene because Jesus was raised in an Israeli town of Nazareth, thus making him a “Nazarene.” Because we are Christians, we are the Church of the “Nazarene.” Click on the seal to go to www.Nazarene.org for more information about the denominationThe Church of the Nazarene believes:
·In one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. [The Trinity]
·The Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary [complete] inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living. [The Holy Bible IS God’s Word - it doesn’t just contain it.] VISIT https://www.youversion.com to download a Bible to your device.
·Human beings are born with a fallen nature, and are, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually. [We all need a Savior]
·The finally impenitent [unforgiven & unrepentant] are hopelessly and eternally lost [separated from God in Hell forever].
·The atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin. [Everyone can be united with God]
·That believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. [God wants and enables us to live a holy life.]
·The Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers. [God’s presence in our lives makes it obvious to others.]
·Our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place. [We dont know WHEN, but we know WHAT is coming in the future.]

The Potter’s House Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit ministry, and is the compassionate ministry center of our church. The Sciotoville Church of the Nazarene oversees this ministry. Together with the church, we host several volunteer ministries to help meet the real needs of folks in our community. We are our county's largest choice food pantry. We prepare free federal and state taxes for over 2,000 families throughout the year. We partner with several organizations and churches to serve thousands of families in our mission field.
This is also a great place to volunteer. Every week we distribute tons of food to our community with semi truck deliveries most Monday mornings. We host a summer feeding program for children, offering a morning day camp on weekdays. We also serve as a remote partner site for Ohio Jobs and Family Services among others.
Click on the PHM logo above to see more of what we do and how you can help.
Our choice food pantry is available to families in need to use once each month. It is located at 5409 Winchester (along with the church offices). Choice means our clients choose what they're given by use of a categorized menu. This helps eliminate waste of food. It also gives our clients a stronger sense of dignity.
The pantry hours are: Tuesdays 9am-2pm and Thursdays 9am—6pm.
We partner with several organizations and programs to bring help meet needs of our community. Some of these include:
FreeStore Foodbank, CAO, HEAP, OJFS, FAFSA, Medicaid, SNAP, and several churches and family service organizations who support us financially and through volunteering.
We offer dozens of opportunities each month for folks in our community to volunteer to serve God by serving others. If you are in need, please call us or stop by and see if there’s anything we can do to help you & your family through a difficult time. If you’re looking for a place to serve or support, ask us. Together we can serve the community better.
Find us on facebook or stop by to see what we can do for you or what you can do to help us help others.
We value our families with children.
We are excited to announce that we've brought back Children's Church. During our regular worship service, following the family prayer time, children will be dismissed to Kingdom Kids Church with some of our faithful volunteers.
We have an infant nursery with a changing table and private restroom for those who need it. The nursery is also set up to insure privacy for nursing mothers.
All volunteers in our church who serve with minors are required to submit to and pass a national criminal and sexual offender background check.
We strive to be the safest church in our community for families with kids because we love and value each of them.

Rev. Chad Garinger, his wife, Kelly and their children Hannah and Timothy joined our ministry team in September, 2010.The Lord has uniquely prepared the Garingers and our church for this ministry partnership. Pastor Chad was raised in Topeka, Kansas. Kelly, a junior high English teacher, was raised near Chicago, Illinois. They met and fell in love in Hampton, Virginia and have lived as a family in Massachusetts and Illinois.
Pastor Chad's life verses come from Psalm 40:1-5. He has lived a been-there-done-that life. Through a lot of transitions, grief and adapting to life as a foster kid at age 12 to thriving in his adoptive family at age 15, Pastor Chad believes his story is God's story. He has had 38 siblings, 14 parents and can relate to just about every soul on Earth. God's grace has lifted Pastor Chad out of difficult times to a stable and thriving life of service. He gives God the glory for the opportunities God grants him to share the Good News of God's love with the mission field God has gives us to share. Their prayer is that God would bless them with an ever-growing wisdom and compassion for God’s family and the mission field of Scioto County.
Pastor Chad and Kelly (by choice not default) are avid Kansas Jayhawks basketball fans. Pastor Chad also enjoys spending time with people, watching movies and applying popular film quotes and music lyrics to biblical truth. He collects playing cards, penguins, lighthouses and Kermit the Frog memorabilia. Kelly loves to read, crochet, study God's Word and teach. Prior to serving as a lead pastor first in Illinois and now here, Pastor Chad served as a youth pastorfor almost 20 years in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, West Virginia, Massachusetts and Virginia.
Pastor Chad is very approachable and accessable. He loves to share his story with folks who need to know how the powerful grace of God is transforming his life. Feel free to contact Pastor Chad on Facebook, by text or email if you'd like to connect. Or, better yet, stop by the office for a cup of coffee and a chat.
Pastor Chad loves serving the Lord by serving in our community mission field, especially through the ministries of the Potter's House. He would love to show you more of what God is doing through our church. Volunteering with him is a great way to see that Pastor Chad is the same person every day as he is behind the pulpit.
